francesco lietti . peak school
We have just had the a pleasure of welcoming Francesco Lietti to Peak School as our ‘Artist in Residence’. Francesco has worked with our students the past 3 weeks to create an amazing collaborative work of art.
Having admired Francesco’s paintings for a few years now, since seeing his work at the Contemporary Art exhibition in Hong Kong, when I discovered that he was willing to work in schools I jumped at the chance and we are most certainly delighted that we did!
Francesco has a really lovely manner with the students and over the past few weeks he has really made a positive connection with them. He values every child’s contribution and it was sheer pleasure to see that every single element that was added by each student was carefully considered and discussed by Francesco and the child themselves.
The quality of the finished piece is absolutely fantastic and the children and staff are SO proud of it!
Some really positive and valuable aspects about the process are that the children had ‘ownership’ of the piece, they all felt ‘ listened to’ and all their ideas were taken seriously and considered. Consequently they felt empowered as Francesco encouraged them to make the decisions as to how the piece would evolve and they learned many artistic and technical skills from Francesco along the way.
Francesco has a particular quality and skill of being able to get into the minds of the children and understand their thinking….. he should be a teacher!
Thanks Francesco – your input has really ‘made a difference’ to our students. – Oh and yes, we now have a wonderful collaborative piece of art depicting the view over Hong Kong which will take pride of place our school for years to come – courtesy of Francesco and friends!
